Session on Protection of Minors and Vulnerable

City of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan - The brothers in initial formation of SMM Philippines gathered at Montfort House of Prayer in San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan, for a session on the protection of minors and vulnerable. The event, held on June 2, 2025, was spearheaded by Fr. Sherwin Nuñez, SMM, Delegation Vicar of SMM Philippines. The session, designed to deepen the brothers’ understanding of safeguarding protocols and guidelines

Prior to the session, a eucharistic celebration happened which was presided over by Fr. Lester Bonete, SMM. Session began at 10:00 AM, by a competent speaker from SMM Delegation sharing invaluable insights on SMM's safeguarding guidelines. Fr. Sherwin Nuñez, SMM, provided an in-depth exposition on the congregation’s guidelines on protecting minors and vulnerable including the importance of creating safe spaces, the dynamics of sexuality in ministry, and the protocols that govern safeguarding minors and vulnerable individuals. His presentation emphasized the Congregation’s commitment to maintaining a protective and supportive environment for all, particularly minors, as part of its broader mission to uphold human dignity and foster a safe community.

In attendance includes Fr. Frederick Yumang, the Delegation Superior, Bro. Reynaldo Silverio, SMM, and Fr. Lester Bonete, SMM and Andrei Andres, incoming pre-postulant of the SMM delegation.

The afternoon session shifted gears with a more relaxed, community-building activity - a friendly volleyball game between the brothers and the Bulacan community, joined by Fr. Francis Tacio, SMM and Fr. Norwyn V. Baydo, SMM, at 3:00 PM.

The session was a critical component of the brothers' formation, reinforcing the Congregation’s commitment to safeguarding principles while strengthening relationships within the broader SMM community and the people they served in the respective mission and apostolate areas.
