Seminar on Social Communication for brothers in Initial Formation

New Manila, Philippines - A seminar on social communication was held at the SMM Delegation House in New Manila, Quezon City, on June 3, 5, and 6, 2025, aimed at enhancing participants' awareness and skills regarding the relevance of social communications. Led by Fr. Reynaldo Bullas, Jr., SMM, the seminar addressed the core principles of social communication, emphasizing its role in conveying messages of faith and sharing updates about the SMM's activities in the Philippines. The first day of the seminar focused on discussions surrounding the mission, vision, and goals of communication, along with practical lessons in writing articles. This provided a foundation for participants to understand how to communicate effectively within their ministries.

The second day continued with Fr. Rey sharing his personal inspiration for his work in social communication, which emphasizes its importance in promoting connections through updates in news articles. The day also included writing exercises and the assignment of roles within the communication team, allowing the brothers to gain hands-on experience in doing the specific tasks and roles as a member of the SMM Philippines Social Communications Team. These activities helped refine their writing abilities and enhanced their collaborative skills for future projects.

The seminar concluded with a session on publishing the articles written on the events happened in each community in the Philippine delegation. Fr. Rey demonstrated how to publish content on the delegation’s website, which emphasizes the great and vital role of digital platforms in reaching a broader audience. The three (3)-day seminar provided the brothers in initial formation with valuable practical skills while also stressing the deeper purpose of social communication – connecting SMM communities without borders.
