On January 11th of 2014, The Society of Montfort Missionaries set out on a journey to spread God’s love to the Aeta people of Barangay Diaz, Porac, Pampanga. Beforehand, a little preparation was done and a total of 150 relief goods for adults was packed and about 200 confectionary bags for the children. Upon arrival, the community felt the warm welcome of the Aeta people and set on each faces of the individuals are the biggest smiles one can imagine. Apart from the material gifts the community brings, they have brought an even more important gift which is the Word of God and so the community celebrated the mass there presided by Father Rene Bustillo, SMM, concelebrated by Father Paul Arnel Lucero, SMM and with assistance of Deacon Benjie Notarte, SMMThe homily given by Deacon Benjie Notarte, SMM not only brought happiness but also light to the meaning of Christmas to the people. Afterwards, the distribution of the gifts commenced starting with the children and later the adults. Their grateful eyes we could clearly see while lining up for their turn to accept the gifts. As their gratitude of the Aeta people, the community was treated a meal in their own traditional style: rice cooked in bamboo stalks and their very own chicken soup (Tinola). Although it would seem that the Aeta people who obtained much in the event but it was us, the community, who were more grateful from the event by allowing us to be the servants of the Lord in spreading His love.
