On January 31, 2018, the SMM Philippine Delegation had celebrated with much joy and thanksgiving the commemoration of the birth of our holy founder, St. Louis-Marie de Montfort with two special activities: First, the Blessing of the Vocation Office in New Manila and the 345th Birthday Tribute for Fr. De Montfort at the Center of Spirituality and Collegians Community in Quezon City.
At 3:30 in the afternoon, the Vocation Office was blessed and officially opened by Fr. Richard J. Magararu, SMM, Delegation Superior, together with his councilor, Fr. Benjie A. Notarte, SMM and the Vocation Director, Fr. Arnel V. Pagaduan, SMM. It was attended by the Vocation Animation Team, Scholasticate Community, Novitiate Community, Old Montfort Center Community and Collegians Community. After the Rite of Blessing, the members of the Vocation Animation Team had their picture taken together with Fr. Richard J. Magararu, SMM and Fr. Federick B. Yumang, SMM. It was then followed by the group picture taking and afterwards, everybody proceeded to the Montfort Center of Spirituality and Collegians Community for the continuation of the celebration.
The highlight of the celebration was the Eucharist. Before the Mass started, Fr. Federick B.Yumang, SMM, the director of the Montfort Center of Spirituality, gave a short introduction of the celebration and had announced that the Superior General had given us a relic of Fr. De Montfort and is now open for public veneration at the chapel of Mary, Queen of all Hearts at the Montfort Center of Spirituality. The Holy Mass then started at 5:00 in the afternoon. It was presided by Fr. Richard J. Magararu, SMM and some Montfortian priests as concelebrants. Our Lay Associates, benefactors and some friends were also present. Fr. Richard had emphasized in his homily why we celebrate the birthday of our dear Fr. De Montfort. He shared how Montfort’s life has been very inspiring and motivating not only for us Montfortians but for those who have known Fr. De Montfort and to the Church. Despite of the many trials and persecutions our holy founder had experienced, truly he remained fruitful in his missions.
It was then followed by the dinner while the seminarians and priests gave their creative presentations as tribute to Fr. De Montfort.
The event had ended with a closing song, “Sa Pamamagitan Mo” and the final blessing by Fr. Federick B. Yumang, SMM thanking the Lord for the gift of Fr. De Montfort in our lives and in the Church. Everybody was in good vibes, bringing with them the joy in their hearts to their respective communities. Glory to God Alone!
